Mosquito Squad Service Day Recap

April 26th was both Arbor Day and Mosquito Squad Service Day, a day in which our Mosquito Squad locations give back to their local communities. We were thrilled that several of our locations sent us pictures and details of what they did on this special day, and of course we wanted to share it with all of you! Here are some of the stories from across the country.

mosquito-control-chicagoMembers of the Mosquito Squad of Chicago team spent the day at the Hines Fisher House. Led by Dominic Caliendo, the volunteers planted trees and assisted the Fisher House team with their landscaping. The Fisher House Foundation provides low cost or free housing to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers.

Dan and Tammy Buchanan of Mosquito Squad of Southeast Minnesota dedicated their Service Day project to a local high school student that had passed away in a car accident. The snow crabapple tree was planted at Byron High School in memory of DJ Logan. As Dan explains: “Here, the company’s community day of service became DJ Logan’s memorial project. It took on a life of its own.” Please read this article to learn more about this wonderful project from Mosquito Squad of Southeast Minnesota.

Mosquito Squad of St. Charles and West Counties near St. Louis donated a tree for the Citizens Committee for the Environment. The Yellowwood tree was planted by a local Girl Scout Troup in the area.

st.louis-mosquito-controlCarson and Martha Baur of Mosquito Squad of Greater St. Louis did two projects for Service Day! For the first, they adopted a new tree in Forest Park in the heart of the city. In addition to adopting this maple tree, the Mosquito Squad of Greater St. Louis went to the Korean Memorial where they mulched and cleaned up around the Memorial. Doesn’t it look great?

mosquito-control-kalamazooKen and Julie Wuerfel of Mosquito Squad of Southwest Michigan planted a tree with a class of elementary school children. The class was able to choose the type of tree. A framed picture with the kids was given to both the school and the nursery that donated the tree.

To read about the Mosquito Squads of North and South Richmond’s project, read this blog that we posted on the actual day.

We are so proud of our Mosquito Squad locations and their dedication to their local communities. It’s nice to the be the local resource for tick and mosquito control, but we feel it is important to also be part of the community and our franchisees are.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped celebrate this great day of service. To learn more about Mosquito Squad and our service, visit our website or contact your local mosquito control provider!

Mosquito Squad Gives Back

Happy Arbor Day and Mosquito Squad Service Day everyone! Today, Mosquito Squad’s across the country gave back to their local communities. Each location decided the best way to help in their area, but I was lucky enough to be part of the effort here in Richmond, VA. Together with Mosquito Squad of North Richmond and Mosquito Squad of South Richmond, we were able to plant 15 trees on a street block in Richmond.

This morning, 30 people gathered in Richmond’s Union Hill neighborhood to plant the trees on a city block that hadn’t had trees since the 1950s. It was great! We had members from the city showing us the best way to plant to ensure the trees grow properly. And just when the digging was getting tough and the weather was getting warm, a neighborhood mom and her two kids came by with lemonade and snacks to thank us for our service.

We at Mosquito Squad are happy to provide our clients with mosquito control for their yard, but we also understand the importance of giving back. Mosquito Squad Service Day was a success here in Richmond! Take a look at the pictures below from today and more information from other Mosquito Squad locations will be coming soon!

World Malaria Day and Mosquito Squad Service Day

At Mosquito Squad, we pride ourselves on being more than just a tick and mosquito control company; we are a company that cares about our local and global communities. Next week we are celebrating two special days for Mosquito Squad: World Malaria Day and Mosquito Squad Service Day.

Mosquitoes, as many of you know, are the deadliest animal on the planet, killing millions of people every year! How do they do it? They transmit diseases including malaria, West Nile, Encephalitis and Dengue fever through their bite. The most serious and deadly illness they transmit is malaria. Malaria kills a child in Africa every minute. Every minute! The worst part? It is both a preventable and treatable disease. Many people don’t realize that malaria was a serious issue in the United States in the 1950s until it was eradicated, yet the epidemic continues in other parts of the world.

While Mosquito Squad fights mosquito-borne disease domestically with our mosquito control options for the yard, we help fight malaria internationally through our support of Malaria No More. Malaria No More has made huge strides in fighting this deadly disease in Africa by providing protective bed nets, malaria tests and malaria treatment. While malaria deaths in Africa are down 33% since they started, we have a long way to go to reach their goal of ending malaria deaths in Africa by 2015.

Next Thursday, April 25th, is World Malaria Day. On this day, we ask our clients and supporters to help fight malaria by making a donation to Malaria No More through SwatMalaria.net. Any amount will help to save the lives of children in Africa.

The day after World Malaria Day is Mosquito Squad Service Day where our franchisees are committed to giving back to their local communities. From planting trees or picking up a public park, our franchisees are donating their time. Here in Richmond, our corporate support team is teaming up with Mosquito Squad of North Richmond and Mosquito Squad of South Richmond to plant trees on a city block. I’ll be sharing pictures and details of the day after the event. Who knows, Dread Skeeter may even make an appearance!

Every day, we at Mosquito Squad are lucky enough to protect our clients’ properties from annoying and dangerous ticks and mosquitoes. Our mosquito control services are effective in enhancing the outdoor living experience on a property. We are thrilled to provide our service, but we are happy to give back too.

If you are interested in learning more about Mosquito Squad, our services or our partnership with Malaria No More, please contact your local Squad.

More than just a Mosquito Control Company

Last week brought the majority of our Mosquito Squad owners all under one roof. The Outdoor Living Brands annual meeting took place in Charleston, South Carolina and included two and half days of meetings on everything from sales and marketing to technology and business management.

Mosquito Squad keeps you and your family mosquito free

Mosquito Squad keeps you and your family mosquito free.

The energy in the Mosquito Squad room was great and truly solidified that it is much more than a mosquito control company. The local owners are so passionate about what they do and want to be different than other companies out there. And they are different!

Customer service has always driven the Mosquito Squad system. Not only do we want to rid our clients’ yards of mosquitoes, but we want to do it promptly and professionally. Mosquito Squad owners from all over country shared how they go above and beyond the expected and make it exceptional. Our clients were the centerpiece of the meeting: “how can we improve their experience with our brand?” From peer panels and group discussions, it was all about our clients.

Another part of the annual meeting that stood out to me centered around our partnership with Malaria No More. Malaria No More, if you aren’t aware, is a GREAT organization whose goal is to end malaria deaths in Africa by 2015. When they started their mission, a child died in Africa from malaria every thirty seconds. Now, it has cut in half down to a minute, but there is still a ton of work to be done. At the annual meeting, our franchisees discussed how they can do more. They understand the importance of giving back, both locally and internationally.

When you are considering working with a professional mosquito control company, I hope you consider the wonderful owners I have the pleasure of working with everyday. They are passionate about providing their clients with outdoor living spaces they can truly enjoy.
